Spring Garden rallies past Pisgah, falls to Jacksonville on second day of Spring Swing

JACKSONVILLE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers once again split a pair of softball games on Tuesday in the Spring Swing tournament at Jacksonville State University. They defeated Pisgah with a four-run bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-4 victory. Spring Garden lost to Jacksonville by the final of 5-1.

In the win over Pisgah, Avery Steward led the Lady Panthers at the plate and in the circle. She went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and a RBI. Steward also earned the win in the circle after tossing six innings. She gave up three earned runs on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Maggie Reedy doubled, scored a run and drove in one for the Lady Panthers. Helena Ingram added a hit and two RBIs. Lilly McCain managed a hit and a RBI. Rylie Ham had a hit, a walk and a run. Addie Word contributed a hit and a run.

Layla Ingram walked and scored a run. Olivia Law finished with a RBI.

In the loss to Jacksonville, Reedy went 3-for-3. McCain, Word and Maggie Jarrett each had a pair of hits. Helena Ingram, Steward and Ham each finished with a hit. Law drove in Hayden Parris for the Lady Panthers’ lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

McCain suffered the loss after tossing three innings. She gave up five earned runs on six hits with seven walks and no strikeouts.
