Warmer Weather on the Way for Alabama
Much of Alabama was shivering under Artic Air, with ice and snow on the ground in many areas, along with icy roads and freezing winds, Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service warned temperatures – in some parts of the state, could fall below zero tonight and dangerously cold and cold wind chills will be possible statewide through Wednesday morning.
Temperatures tonight across Alabama will be the coldest of the winter – according to forecasters. The National Weather Service said lows could fall to below zero in north Alabama, and the teens will be possible all the way into south Alabama. Any precipitation on surfaces will stick around until Wednesday in many areas.
Another blast of arctic air is expected late this week – and then – into the weekend according to forecasters. BUT there is hope on the horizon for those who are sick of the cold. The weather service said it appears the weather pattern will FLIP early next week and could bring warmer temperatures back to the state.
The “warmer” temperatures will start to be felt by Monday, and continue into next week. Highs will still be in the 40’s in north Alabama but it’ll break into the 50’s across the rest of the state. Some areas in south Alabama could possibly be closing in on 60 degrees by that point.
And that trend could continue; the Climate Prediction Center, thinks that Alabama will have a higher probability of “above-average” (for January) temperatures next week All of Alabama has a good shot at seeing the above-average temperatures through the end of January and by the way, the last day of meteorological winter will be February 29th.
