Gaylesville basketball teams sweep ASD

GAYLESVILLE – The Gaylesville Trojans swept a pair of basketball games against visiting Alabama School for the Deaf on Thursday. The Lady Trojans earned a 58-38 victory while the Trojan boys posted a 50-27 win in the nightcap.

In the girls game, Gracie Dawson led all scorers with 24 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. She also had six steals, four rebounds and a block.

Jayden Dobbins delivered nine points – all on 3-pointers – along with seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. Sydney Smith scored eight points. Emma Givens finished with seven points, eight assists, three rebounds and a steal.

Tusi Silas led ASD with 11 points. Ka’Mora McCurdy came away with 10 points. Angel Maddox and Alyssa Thomas tallied seven and six points respectively.

Gaylesville jumped out to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter and led 27-16 at halftime. The Lady Trojans built a 50-23 lead after three quarters.

In the boys game, the Trojans began the game on an 18-2 run and didn’t look back. They held a 31-7 advantage at halftime and held a 45-17 edge after three quarters.

Kyler Bradley topped the Trojan scorers with 18 points, including three 3-pointers. He also had five steals, four rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Kuper Bradley contributed eight points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals. Collin Hendon came away with seven points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Daylen Dobbins and Brayden Sharp both finished with six points. Dobbins had a pair of treys. Sharp also grabbed four rebounds and had two steals and two blocks.

Peter Joseph Brownlee and Lakendrick Agee led the Silent Warriors with 10 points apiece. Brownlee had a pair of 3-pointers.
