Alabama Scenic River Trail Paddle Race Underway

The 10 day event got underway Saturday on Weiss Lake with 19 teams taking part.

The paddle teams launched their boats with the race beginning at 10:00 that morning.  The group stopped for the night at a site on Henry Neely Lake in the Gadsden area, before continuing on the 650 mile race to Fort Morgan on Mobile Bay.

We spoke with Fred Couch, founder of the Alabama Scenic River Trail – and he told us about the incredible talent level exhibited by the competitors:
