An early morning crash outside of Albertville claimed the life of a Boaz man on Saturday.
Matthew Thurmond, age 28, was pronounced dead at the scene after the pickup truck he was a passenger in, left the roadway, struck an embankment and then overturned. According to authorities he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The crash took place shortly after 2:00am Saturday on Alabama Highway 205, near the 13 mile marker. The driver of that truck – identified only as a 25 year-old from Albertville was also injured – and was transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
No other vehicles appear to have been involved in that crash – which is still under investigation.
