Residents from Alabama are traveling to neighboring states in droves to purchase a chance at becoming a billionaire! The Powerball officials announced Tuesday the estimated jackpot for today’s draw is projected to be a billion dollars.

Convenience stores at the Georgia/Cherokee County state line on US Highway 411 reported extremely high sales volumes with customers traveling from Alabama and Georgia. The report was the same from convenience stores along the state line.

It was an overflow crowd at store on Alabama Highway 9/Alabama Highway on Wednesday morning. The sales had been brisk all morning.

Many Alabama residents favor the Lottery and travel to other states which have the Lottery: Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida and Mississippi. Alabama is one of only 5 states in the country that does not have a lottery. The question is, how many Alabama dollars flow out of state for lottery play?
