Apartments, Vehicles Damaged by Gunfire in Floyd County

Recently, Rome Police Officers responded to a number of phone calls regarding apartments and vehicles bring shot in East Rome.

According to a Rome Police Department report:  Officers were dispatched to the Sandra D. Hudson Villas – located in the Annie Aycock Drive area (owned by the Rome Housing Authority) – at around 7:50 Friday morning.

A bullet had gone through the front door, and then lodged itself  into an adjacent wall of one apartment.  Bullets also struck the front door of a second apartment and the front post of a third.

Three vehicles were also damaged by gunfire.  Around 40 shell casings were found at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
