OXFORD– The Oxford Police Department has arrested Aubrey Jamaal Butler following a child exploitation investigation.
According to police, the investigation began with cyber tips received from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Butler faces eight counts of electronic solicitation of a child. He also faces one count of production of obscene matter of a minor.
Butler was booked into the Calhoun County Jail. Police said he is being held on a $108,000 bond.
The Oxford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the East Metro Area Crime Center conducted the investigation.
Other agencies involved included the 7th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office Major Crime Unit, the United States Secret Service, the FBI, and the United States Marshals Service.
The case is pending prosecution. Oxford Police said no additional information will be released at this time.
The Oxford Police Department said it remains committed to protecting children and investigating crimes involving the exploitation of minors.
Butler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
