According to Sheriff Shaver, a 911 call was dispatched on Tuesday afternoon  about a female meeting someone for a buy/sell exchange of a cell phone just outside of Centre, when the male suspect, later identified as Malachi Promise Lerob Taylor, 19, of Anniston, ran with the cell phone prior to payment to the seller.

Deputies quickly responded to the area to attempt to locate the suspect. Cpl. Daniel Holcomb and Chief Deputy Josh Summerford found the suspect and placed him under arrest after recovering the stolen phone. Taylor was transported to Cherokee County Detention Center on the charge of Theft of Property-third degree.
