UPDATE on Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision Issued by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency

A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:10pm back on Wednesday, April 26th, claimed five lives.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said that Jimie M. Francisco, age 31 of Crossville was fatally injured when the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu that he was driving collided head-on with a 2009 Toyota Tundra.

After the collision, the Toyota caught fire. The driver of the Toyota has been identified as Nelson Loesa-Fernandez, 44, of Caledonia, Miss. The passengers in the have been identified as Cesar Arano-Rosales, age 55, of Columbus, Miss., Norma A. Gonzalez-Garcia, 41, of Caledonia, Miss. and Yadira Loesa-Fernandez, age 48, of Columbus, Miss.

The Toyota’s driver and all three passengers were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Interstate 59 northbound near the 182 mile marker, approximately four miles south of Attalla, in Etowah County.  

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
