Lady Warriors take fourth in AHSAA Class 4A state track and field meet

GULF SHORES – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors took fourth place at the Class 4A state track and field in meet in Gulf Shores on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Warriors scored a total of 39 points. Brooks won the 4A girls meet with 87.5 points.

Leading the Lady Warriors was Mary Hayes Johnson, who took gold in the triple jump (35’5.75”) and bronze in the 100 meter (12.39).

The Lady Warriors placed third in the 4×400 with a time of 4:17.10.

The Warrior boys tied for 29th with Good Hope. Both teams scored five points. Anniston won the Class 4A boys meet with a total of 81 points.

In the boys ambulatory events, Jack Sammit earned gold in the 100 meter ambulatory (48.15). He also earned gold in the 200 meter ambulatory (48.15) and the shotput ambulatory (12’11.5”).

Daniel Burton gold in the discus ambulatory (35’5”). He also earned gold in the shotput ambulatory (16’8”).
