Cherokee County softball opens Albertville Tournament with a pair of wins

ALBERTVILLE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors opened the Albertville Tournament on Friday with a pair of wins. They defeated East Hamilton (Tenn.) 8-4 and blew past Valley Head in three innings 17-1.

In the win over East Hamilton, Emma Hill led the Lady Warriors at the plate by going 3-for-4 with two runs. She also earned the complete-game win in the circle. She gave up four earned runs on six hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Lanie Williams went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

Grayson Tucker was also 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, a run and two RBIs. Bristol Bass was 2-for-2 with a run.

Macy Lea tripled and drove in a run. Samantha Stubbs and Audrey Haygood both had a hit and scored a run. Haygood also had a RBI. Raechel Russell had a hit and a RBI. KarLee Jolly scored a run.

In the win over Valley Head, Haygood went 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Williams was also 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and four RBIs. Jolly was 2-for-2 with four runs. Tucker went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Stubbs tripled, walked, scored a run and had four RBIs. Anna Walker doubled, walked twice, scored a run and drove in another.

Russell collected a hit, two walks, three runs and a RBI.

Bass picked up the win after working two innings. She surrendered an unearned run on two hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Tucker tossed an inning of no-hit ball with a pair of strikeouts.
