Steward’s overall performance lifts Spring Garden softball at Cedar Bluff 2-0

CEDAR BLUFF – Avery Steward went 3-for-4 at the plate with a RBI. She also went the distance in the circle, scattering six hits, two walks and three strikeouts in Spring Garden’s 2-0 area softball win at Cedar Bluff on Thursday.

Number 10 Spring Garden (8-7) scored a run in the top of the first and another in the seventh for the final.

Olivia Law tripled and scored a run. Helena Ingram collected a hit, a walk and a run. Lilly McCain managed a hit and a RBI. Kayley Kirk and Maggie Jarrett both finished with a hit apiece.

Rylie Walker led fourth-ranked Cedar Bluff (11-13) at the plate by going 3-for-3. Reece Patterson posted a hit and a walk. Ciana Smith and Natalie Baty both finished with a hit.

Patterson suffered the loss. She gave up two earned runs on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout.
