Fatal Mobile Home Fire in Cherokee County Claims Life of Centre Man / UPDATED

UPDATE

The three alarm fire went out around midnight Friday night to a mobile home fire just north of Ellisville on highway 9 south. When firefighters arrived on the scene the house was fully involved. They had a report of someone possibly being inside the blazing home.

Ellisville Fire Chief Hank Richardson told WEIS Radio News the departments had to get a knock down on the blaze before firemen could get inside to investigate. Once inside they discovered the body.

Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald identified the victim as James C. McKinney of the address.

The Cherokee County Sheriff Investigator and the State Fire Marshall were also called in to investigate which is standard protocol with a death from a fire.

The cause of the blaze is still undetermined at this time. Fire Fighters were on the scene for almost 5 hours. We will have more on this as information is made available from investigators.
