Mrs. Laura Jane Parker, age 88 of Centre, passed away Tuesday, December 20th at her residence.
Graveside services will be 12 PM Thursday December 22nd at Cherokee Memory Gardens with Dr. George Cobb officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 12pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Parker, Jill (Dino) Powell, and Gale (Donnie) East; 5 grandchildren, Wendy (Steven) McDaniel, April (Casey) Young, Jake Powell, Colton East, and Hunter East; 5 great grandchildren, Macy Jane Haney, Call R. Young, Parker Jane Woodall, Emmy Grace Woodall, and Nala Grace Powell; 1 great great grandchild, Kingston James Miller; chosen daughter, Windy York.
Pallbearers will include Jake Powell, Colton East, Call Young, Hunter East, Caleb Farrell, and Stephen Farrell.
Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Clanton, Jim Silvers, Jamie Hightower, Dr. Barton Perry, and the Ralph Bates Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Laura Jane Upton Parker was a native of Cherokee County. She was a faithful member of Centre First United Methodist Church. She was a retiree after 32 years of educating the children of Cherokee County. She served as the home economics teacher at Sand Rock, Cherokee County High School and was a charter member of the faculty and staff of the Cherokee County Area Vocational School. She loved her Sunday School class, helping others, and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Parker and three brothers, Robert, Ray and Wayne Upton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Centre First United Methodist Church.
