ATTALLA – The Cherokee County Warriors tipped off their basketball season on Tuesday night at Etowah. The Warriors fell by the final of 59-48.

Jack Amos and Landon Caldwell both netted 10 points for Cherokee County (0-1). Malachi Horton had eight points. Cade Hopper and Eli Martin both finished with five points.

Jalien Walker led the Blue Devils with 13 points. Davante Shannon added 11 points. Jameson Scissum tossed in 10 points, and Josh Graham finished with nine points.

Cherokee County held a 10-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but Etowah surged ahead by halftime, 28-22. The Blue Devils built a 49-36 advantage after three quarters.

Cherokee County hosts Jacksonville on Friday.
