Garden girls earn Champions Thanksgiving Basketball Classic title with win over Cherokee County

ALEXANDRIA – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers defeated Cherokee County 64-31 to win the Champions Thanksgiving Basketball Classic on Tuesday evening.

Ace Austin earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player honor after posting 22 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals for the Lady Panthers (3-0). All-tournament selection Kayley Kirk collected 23 points and Chloe Rule finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Audrey Haygood led the Lady Warriors (2-1) with 12 points. Nevaeh Gaidurgis added eight points. Ella Garmany finished with six points. Mary Hayes Johnson represented Cherokee County on the all-tournament team.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 17-6 first-quarter advantage. They led 41-19 at halftime and 61-25 after three quarters.
