A man police say was a former children’s minister in Ohio faces 215 counts of possessing child pornography, according to Rainsville police.

Steve Robert Wukmer, 66, of Rainsville, was arrested at his job in Fort Payne on Monday, police said. He is being held in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.

Police said an investigation began earlier this month after a tip was received by Rainsville police’s criminal investigations division. The DeKalb County Sheriff Office assisted by performing forensic downloads of electronic devices seized during the investigation.

“I am disgusted that someone could be doing this sort of thing here in Rainsville, but unfortunately, I’m also not surprised,” Police Chief Michael Edmondson said. “We in law enforcement are seeing more and more of this terrible act, even locally.”
