Brace yourself as much of Alabama will see, and feel, extreme heat levels Wednesday with Heat Advisories being in effect for most areas.
Portions of north Alabama, including Huntsville, have been upgraded to an excessive heat warning by the National Weather Service.
An excessive heat warning was issued because that Heat Index is expected to climb to 110 degrees or higher. The numbers are mainly for north Alabama and could change depending on location. The air temperature Wednesday is expected to climb into the low to upper-90’s statewide, with northern Alabama expected to see the worst of the heat. More of the same is expected Thursday and into Friday as well.
A Heat Advisory will also be in effect for Central Alabama, including Cherokee County through 9:00pm Thursday
The counties in the advisory are Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike and Barbour.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham stated that the Heat Index could reach as high as 108 degrees.
