Fort Payne Man Facing Federal Drug Charges

A Ft Payne man is now in federal custody – after being indicted on charges stemming from distributing methamphetamine.  The DeKalb County Narcotics Unit and the FBI Northeast Criminal Enterprise eradication team has taken part in a lengthy narcotics investigation into the illicit drug trafficking activities of Francisco Javier Colunga, age 46.

He was federally indicted January 18th by FBI Task Force Officers that were assigned to the DeKalb County Narcotics Unit. 

He was indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine – along with nine charges for the Distribution of/Possession with Intent to Distribute, Methamphetamine.

Colunga was picked up by the U.S. Marshall’s Service on February 9th (2022), and he was taken into federal custody pending trial.
