A two-vehicle collision occurring shortly before midnight Tuesday – resulted in one person being fatally injured.

The accident took place at the 221 Mile Marker on I-59 at Ft Payne and involved a Ford Van and a Freightliner owned by Tyson Foods.

The wreck resulted in both vehicles leaving the roadway and bursting into flames.

The driver of the Tyson truck, who was identified as 57 year old Gadsden resident Thomas Owen Cline, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van was listed on reports as Enrique Petino of Dalton, Georgia; the stretch of roadway where the crash occurred was shut down for several hours Wednesday morning.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation by the Ft Payne Police Department.
