47 percent of Cherokee County’s Registered Voters turned out for Tuesday’s General Election – and for the most part there will be a new panel of elected officials in our county government in the coming months.

In the race for District Court Judge Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney Wes Mobley defeated 12 year Incumbent Sheri Carver garnering 57percent of the votes and winning the seat 3,954 to 2,969.

Judge Mobley had these comments following his victory –

Newcomer Dustin St. Clair is now Cherokee County’s new Revenue Commissioner as he took 53percent of the votes and defeated longtime Incumbent Johnny Roberts 3,661 to 3,263.

Both Roberts and St.Clair shared their appreciation with those that turned in support of their respective campaign.

In the race for Cherokee County Board of Education Place No. 5 Brian Jennings defeated Lanny Star by a total of 4,195 votes to 2,679 votes – Jennings will take office immediately and will be sworn in sometime before 5:00 Thursday prior to the Board of Education Meeting.

In Cherokee County Commission District No. 2, the Incumbent Kimball Parker will retain his seat defeating challenger Troy Patterson 3,462 to 3,393.

Carlton “Bubba” Teague was unopposed for the post of County Commission District No. 4.

Likewise Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton were also unopposed for their respective positions.

In the race for District 39 State Representative – longtime Incumbent and Cherokee County native Richard Lindsey defeated his opponent Heath Jones 4,602 to 2,326.

For State Senate District 10 current State Senator Phil Williams won Cherokee Co over former State Senator Larry Means 3,044 to 2,553.

Cherokee County Probate Judge Kirk Day said that he was extremely pleased with the turnout for this years election.
