A 23 year old DeKalb County woman drowned late Saturday night or sometime early Sunday morning, after her car left the roadway and went into a creek.

DeKalb County Deputy Coroner Chris Thacker told Channel 19 News, Makayla Ross of Ft Payne drowned, after apparently exiting her car after it went into the water.  Thacker said the heavy rainfall from the stormfront passing through the area caused highly elevated water levels – a Flash Flood Warning was issued prior to the incident.

Ross’ body was reportedly discovered on Radio Drive around 9:00am Sunday.
