In the post made on Wednesday, several students are seen wearing what appear to be anti-LGBTQ face coverings while making inappropriate hand gestures. The post also uses explicit language.
A female student was the apparent target of the post after she wore a ‘gay pride’ shirt to school.
We spoke to Andrea Morgan who is the mother of the female student and she said that this is not the first time her daughter has been targeted at school.
In a statement issued to WEIS Radio by Cherokee County Superintendent Mike Welsh he said;
“We are aware of the inappropriate social media posts made by some of our students this week. The school and the Cherokee County School System do not support or encourage the posts or any type of discriminating behavior.
School administration is working diligently to address this situation appropriately. We are extremely thankful for the community concern for our students. The safety and well-being of all students remain our top priority.”
We will continue to follow this story and will provide updates should any additional details be made available.
