We have received an update from Cherokee County EMA concerning the number of active COVID-19 in Cherokee County.

The ADPH Data & Surveillance Dashboard shows that there are currently 18 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Cherokee County with  303 having been tested so far and no illness related deaths. 

Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers says that those numbers are somewhat confusing. Rogers said the latest ADPH figures do not reflect the number of persons who were infected but have since recovered, out of quarantine, or are no longer considered infectious.

Of the 18 cases in Cherokee County, there are only 6 that are considered ‘active’ – the other 12 individuals have recovered, are no longer in quarantine and are no longer considered infectious.

There could be new cases added to the active list however, the Cherokee County Health Department held a drive-up testing clinic last week and those results have not been released as of yet. 

Those that want to get tested for COVID-19 can visit the Main Street Family Care on West Main Street in Centre. They are also performing COVID-19 Antibody testing which will show if you previously had Coronavirus.

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting their weekly COVID-19 News Conference on Tuesday, additional updates will be provided at that time.
