Crappie anglers from several states traveled to Weiss Lake over the weekend to participate in the Crappie USA (CUSA) Tournament Trail event presented by Bass Pro Shops Cabela’s.
Local and traveling anglers were be vying for cash, prizes, and an opportunity to compete at the CUSA Classic which will a guaranteed payout of $125,000 in cash and prizes.
In the Amateur Division, the Leesburg Team of Tim Pentecost and Avery Pruett took first place with an overall weight of 7.52; they also captured the tournament Big Fish weighing in at 1.92. The Centre team of Jeff Baker and Jason Lawless finished second the Amateur Division.
In the Pro Division it was Kris and Terry Mann from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky captured the first place spot with a total weight of 7.45; Adam Mobbs and Carlton Teague of Gaylesville finished in the third place spot.
Each year, Crappie USA holds more than 17 events across 15 plus states averaging around 5,000 anglers annually.
