Roy “White” Steele, age 85, of Gaylesville, passed away Sunday September 8th at Riverview Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday September 11th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Steele officiating; burial will follow in Unity Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Jamie Jones, Alan Early, Justin Barnes, Chris Steele, Jonathan Shook, and Logan Shook.
Survivors include his wife Thelma Crane Steele; daughters Vera (James) Jones of Fort Payne, Phyllis (Wayne)Smothers of Gaylesville, Windy (Jerry) Gaylesville; Chosen daughter Tina Steele of Gaylesville; brother Troy Steele of Tampa, FL.; sister Sue Lay of Centre; 6 grandchildren Jamie Jones, Valerie Shook, April Poss, Chris Steele, Justin Barnes, and Casey Kennedy; 17 great grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son Edward Steele; brothers Gene Steele, J.B. Steele; sisters Betty Lamar, Ruth Mobbs, and Mae Abernathy.
Mr. Steele is a native of Cherokee County; the son of the late Grady and Eunice Steele, and was a long time farmer.
