Attalla Firefighters Investigating A Mobile Home Fire, Explosion Injures Two

Two people were injured after an oxygen tank exploded setting off a mobile home fire in Attalla on Monday morning.

Attalla Fire Chief Robert Dillard said that firefighters answered the call around 4:04 a.m. and that all four people in the home were able to get out safely.

One of the individuals used oxygen from a tank on a regular basis, for medical purposes and the tank exploded.

Chief Dillard says there were two minor injuries–a firefighter was for heat exhaustion, and treated and then taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center and later released. One of the mobile home occupants received minor injuries and refused treatment.

Chief Dillard says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The mobile home was a total loss.
