ANNISTON– Eastman will hold a Choccolocco Creek meeting Tuesday, October 6, to explain how fish sampling supports environmental evaluations. The session begins at 5:30 p.m. at Bynum Community Center, 200 Victory Drive in Eastaboga.
The meeting is the fifth of six planned community information sessions about PCB cleanup in and around Choccolocco Creek. It follows the previous session on September 29, but focuses on a different part of the evaluation process.
The featured presentation is “Why Scientists Study Fish: How Fish Sampling Supports Environmental Evaluations.” First, residents will learn why scientists sample fish and how they conduct that work. The presentation will also explain how scientists use the data to evaluate environmental conditions over time.
In addition, community members can ask questions and learn more about ongoing cleanup efforts. Eastman said the series keeps residents informed about the next phase of cleanup activities. It also gives residents opportunities to speak directly with project representatives throughout the process.
