Spring Garden Man facing Multiple Charges Following High Speed Chase Monday Afternoon

A Spring Garden man is currently lodged in the Cherokee County Detention Center, facing a long list of charges following a high-speed chase Monday afternoon.

The pursuit began on Highway 278 in the southeastern portion of the county when Sheriff’s Office Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over; however, the driver chose to flee and the chase eventually ran for more than 20 minutes, until law enforcement was forced to deploy spike strips in an effort to slow the vehicle.

The chase finally came to an end when the suspect crashed on Old LaDiga Road.

Investigators seized over two ounces of methamphetamine a quantity of marijuana, several unlawful pills and an AK-style rifle.

James Kyle Clark, age 40, was placed under arrest and was charged with:

  • Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (three counts)
  • Trafficking Amphetamines
  • Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Fleeing/Attempting to Elude
  • Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm
  • Failure to Appear on a previous charge of Possession of a Short Barrel Shotgun
  • Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign, Improper Passing & Lane Usage and Speeding.

 

Bond for Clark has yet to be set.
