Cherokee County Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice, along with a number of elected officials, Principal Wes Neyman, the Elementary School Fourth Grade Class and community supporters gathered on Friday afternoon as officials broke ground on a new $13million dollar Centre Elementary School.

State Representative Ginny Shaver addressed the group during the ceremony. Joy Perry with the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, County Commission Chairman Tim Burgess, Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie Board President Brian Jennings and Superintendent Guice all told the group what a special event this is for the children, teachers, the city and the county.
