Ft Payne Man Arrested on Felony Elder Abuse Charge

A 66 year old Ft Payne man has been arrested and charged with one count of Elderly Abuse in the second degree – which is a felony.

Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum, in a news release issued on Wednesday of this week – stated that last Thursday, October 11th workers with the Department of Human Resources filed a report in regard to a case of elder abuse occurring at a residence on Scenic Drive.  Chief Bynum said the victim, an 84 year old female had suffered a gash approximately three inches long on her hand as the result of a slap on the top of her hand.  The following day the department placed James Ronnie Hulsey of the same address under arrest for elderly abuse

No bond had been set at the time of the arrest.  The investigation was a joint effort by the Ft Payne Police Department and DeKalb Human Resource Department.
