Man Charged with Impersonating a Police Officer After Pulling Over Off Duty Cop

A Floyd County Georgia man allegedly impersonating a police officer got quite a surprise on Tuesday night – when he pulled over an off duty police officer.  A real one.

According to jail reports, 43 year old Tony Arden Ruth of a Silver Creek address, reportedly aggressively drove toward a vehicle in the parking lot of the old K-Mart building in Rome in an effort to provoke an altercation.

According to the report, the incident was done in an attempt to “harass and intimidate” the officer – which it didn’t.

The report went on to say Ruth committed the offense of impersonating an officer, when he flashed his vehicle’s lights, as well as a flashlight, in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop.

In addition to the Impersonating an Officer charge Ruth faces charges of Aggressive Driving and Reckless Conduct.
