Nigerian Army: Chibok Schoolgirl Abducted by Boko Haram in 2014 Found

kylieellway/iStock/Thinkstock(ABUJA, Nigeria) — The Nigerian army said Thursday that it had located one of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls and her six-month-old baby.

According to a statement posted to the Nigerian Army’s website, soldiers investigating the suspected Boko Haram terrorists discovered one of the girls, who was abducted nearly three years ago.

The girl — identified by Acting Director of Army Public Relations Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman as Rakiya Abubkar — is undergoing medical investigation.

Another one of the girls was found in November, just weeks after Switzerland and the International Red Cross brokered a negotiation between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram that saw 21 of the Chibok girls released. Nearly 300 schoolgirls were abducted in April 2014.
