Mr. Joseph Luther “Joe L” Dawson, age 66 of Ft. Payne, AL, passed away Saturday November 5, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Dawson was born November 4, 1950, in Trion, GA, the son of the late Willie and Grace Rutledge Dawson. He was retired as a Sergeant First Class with the United States Army having served in Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Franklin Dawson, Wesley Dawson, and Gene Dawson.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Dawson; children, Joe and Kristy Dawson, Jr., Bobby and Kimmy Dawson, Kelly Dawson and Anthony Dearing; sisters, Wilma and James Burrage, Nilma Burrage, Martha Dawson; and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. (EST) Thursday, November 10, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darriel Thompson officiating.
Interment will be at 2:30 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA , with full military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Dawson, Jr., Bobby Dawson, Joey Dawson, Luke Dawson, Anthony Dearing, and Kevin Wills.
Mr. Dawson will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. (EST).
