Mandela Foundation Calls for South African President's Resignation

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — The Nelson Mandela Foundation believes that South African president Jacob Zuma should be removed from office, according to a statement made by the foundation on Tuesday. BBC News reports the foundation also says that President Zuma has “failed the test” of leadership and the country needed those who were “looting” state resources to be held accountable.

The statement against the South African president by the foundation operated by colleagues of the country’s first black president, is the latest sign of South Africa’s growing displeasure with President Zuma.

This latest critique comes after President Zuma’s legal team was successful in preventing the release of a report by former anti-corruption chief Thuli Madonsela. Although President Zuma has survived past impeachment votes, it appears another may be imminent.
