A 55 year old Piedmont man was arrested Monday in Etowah County on a criminal mischief charge following what was termed a “lovers’ quarrel”, during which he tossed diesel fuel on to a truck and set it on fire.

Sheriff Todd Entrekin said Lamar Ray McGatha torched the truck then fled the scene – later being arrested in connection with the incident.

He was booked into the Etowah County Detention and later released on a $2,500 bond.
