Second Person Enters Guilty Plea in Connection with Marshall County Murder Case

Murder in DeKalb - Willis 3

A second person has now entered a guilty plea to charges related to the December (2013) slaying of a Marshall County man.

The body of Gary Lee Willis was found inside a vehicle which had been burned, and abandoned, in DeKalb County, just outside of Geraldine. The investigation revealed that the victim had been shot and killed in Marshall County prior to being moved.

A grand jury found that Delia May Downs had nothing to do with the kidnapping of Willis – but during a court appearance this week she pled guilty to hindering prosecution and was given a jail sentence of ten years.

Stanley Townsel had pled guilty to the murder of Willis earlier this month (April, 2014), and was sentenced to life in prison.

A third suspect, Christopher Cagle – remains in the Marshall County Jail, on bond of one million dollars.
