The Sand Rock Chapter of the National Beta Club recently competed at the Alabama Beta Convention in Birmingham and came home with 5 top awards.
Timothy Smith was 1st place in the state science competition, Jacob Bartley was 1st place in the state social studies competition, Maggie Lyn Lumsden was 2nd place in the state oratory competition, Mary Gaylor was 3rd place in the state English competition and Kathy Griffin was 3rd place in the on-site pencil drawing competition.
These students were competing against over 63 other school systems in the state. They all earned invitations to compete at the National Beta Convention in Richmond, Virginia this summer.
