RAINBOW CITY, Alabama — A sales clerk moved away from the cash register about 30 seconds before a Lincoln Town Car came through the front door of the Rainbow City ABC Store Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Jerry Lyons of Rainbow City Police said the incident happened at 3:18 p.

m. at the store off Alabama 77. Witnesses said the woman accidentally drove her car through the front of the store. The car shattered windows and liquor bottles, bending burglary bars and closing the store.

The driver, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital. The incident is under investigation, Lyons said.

No one inside the store was injured.
