A number of local athletes were honored during Championship Night at the Cherokee County Basketball Tournament.
During halftime of the Varsity Girls Championship Game, local high school football players selected for the All-County Team were recognized.
Nine selections were from Gaylesville, nine from Sand Rock, five from Cedar Bluff, seven from Cherokee County High School and three from Spring Garden.
Meanwhile, Cole Murphy from Gaylesville was honored as The Cherokee County Herald’s Defensive Player of the Year.
His teammate Gage Davis is the All-County Offensive Player of the Year.

From Gaylesville: Cole Murphy, Gage Davis, Dylan Mitchell, Dylan Cavin, Daniel Williams, Austin Lindsey, Gable Lawson, Seth Dawson and Allen LaFavor.
From Sand Rock: Chandler Mackey, Dylan Mackey, Ethan Jimmerson, Austin Godshall, Zane Farrar, Isaac Arnold, Austin Chambers, Dustin Chambers and Aaron Adkins.
From Cedar Bluff: Dalton Cosby, Blake Terry, Jake Mintz, Devante Dixon and Wesley Richardson.
From Cherokee County Warriors High: Dallas Cabe, Chase May, Andrew Johnson, Natron Miller, Ty Green, Brad Minor and Tanner Johnson.
From Spring Garden: Will Ivey, Hunter Bondie and Matt Mullinax.
Meanwhile, during halftime of the Boys Championship Game, members of the All-Cherokee County Volleyball Team were recognized.
Four players were from Cherokee County High, including Jensen Burk, who was named the All-County Volleyball MVP.
Sand Rock and Spring Garden each had three selections to the team while Cedar Bluff and Gaylesville each had two.
Players for the All-County teams each received a T-shirt, while the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and MVP received a plaque from Cherokee Herald Sports Editor Shannon Fagan.

From Sand Rock: Madison Smith, Courtney Rowe and Ashley Norris.
From Spring Garden: Darby Bryant, Haley Motes and Madison Sides.
