Bob Williams is a name that’s very well known in the Rome Georgia area as a supporter of many worthwhile causes in the community, and he and his wife Kay, recently committed half-a-million dollars to help build the new Berry College athletic stadium.
The on-campus facility will play host to football games, track and field events and lacrosse along with larger events hosted by campus groups and community organizations.
So far, more than half of the $6.5 million needed for construction has been raised.
Bob and Kay Williams urge others to step forward to help make the new facility a reality. Bob is a 1962 graduate of Berry High School, who played baseball and basketball for the school, and he stated that he hopes to foster the same spirit among young athletes that helped him succeed in his profession as an auto dealer.
The pair has committed more than a million dollars to Berry during the past year including funds for the new nursing program and two “Gate of Opportunity” scholarships; all that in addition to a need-based scholarship named for their late daughter, Ann.
