A man was shot and hospitalized after an armed robbery on North Broad Street in Rome Friday evening.
Rome Police Department Sergeant Josh Kerce says at approximately 7:00 p.m. Friday three unidentified black males entered the North Rome Grocery and demanded money.
The clerk behind the counter was shot in the lower back and the suspects fled the scene.
Kerce says police found the clerk conscious and alert.
The victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.
His injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.
There was one other employee and three customers inside the store at the time of the robbery but no other injuries were reported.
Kerce says nothing of value was stolen during the incident.
