Little River Canyon Open Again

The government shutdown is over and that means The Little River Canyon National Preserve is open again.

Tourists began arriving back at the park Thursday morning after Congress set up in the stopgap deal that ended the 16-day shutdown.

October is usually the third busiest time of the year when it comes to visitors at the preserve.

In addition to the workers that had to be furloughed, its closing during the busy month cost the area important tourism dollars.

There are also fears that the barricades could go on once again after the first of the year, since the Republicans and Democrats agreed only on continuing federal spending at its current level until January the 15th.
