The Leesburg Town Council approved the October 2013 through September 2014 Budget Monday night.
The budget includes 290-thousand dollars for the sewer project, 125-thousand for bath houses at Leesburg Landing and a salary for a part-time police officer, as Town Clerk Jennifer Mackey explained.
Last year’s budget was around 1.2-million dollars.
Also Monday night, Mayor Ed Mackey said that work on the sewer project is set to begin Tuesday.
It will hopefully be completed by the end of the year if the weather cooperates.
It was also announced Monday night that the fire department made 42-hundred dollars off of food sales and a raffle during the recent Leesburg Day celebration.
Fire Chief and Councilman Joe Sonaty thanked all of the volunteers who helped make the event a success.
In other news, this year’s annual Trunk or Treat will be held at the Leesburg Town Park on Halloween Night which is on a Thursday this year from 5 until 6:30 p.m.
