State Senator Phil Williams was on hand for Tuesday’s Cherokee County Board of Education meeting to present Community Service Grant Checks.

Williams explains where the money comes from.

The checks for Cherokee County totaled 7-thousand 500 dollars.

1-thousand dollars for Cherokee County Farms Days, 15-hundred dollars for the Cherokee County High Library, 15-hundred for the Cherokee County Science and Robotics Competition, 15-hundred for Cedar Bluff High athletic equipment, a thousand dollars for textbooks and education technology at Sand Rock and a thousand for textbooks and library supplies at Gaylesville.

In personnel action, the board voted to hire Rodney Slayton as a bus driver for the Career and Technology Center.

They also approved the transfer of Randi Wright from In-School Suspension Paraprofessional to Instructional Parapro at Centre Elementary and voted to post the now vacant In-School Suspension Paraprofessional job.

A number of supplements also received a “Yes” vote from the board.

The next school board meeting will be on September the 24th at 6 p.m. at the board office.
