A trial date has been set for a man accused of murdering an Anniston Police Officer two years ago.
26-year old Joshua Eugene Russell is accused of shooting Officer Justin Sollohub in the head during a foot chase in August 2011.
Russell was apprehended eight hours later, hiding in an overgrown lot, following an intense manhunt involving agents from local, state and federal agencies aided by dogs, armored personnel carriers and helicopters.
Sollohub died a short time after the shooting in a Birmingham hospital after being on life support.
The charges against Russell were then upgraded from attempted murder to murder
The trial is expected to start with jury selection on September the 9th in Lee County.
Calhoun County Circuit Judge Brian Howell granted a motion earlier this year to move the trial there based on previous media coverage of the case and the difficulty of finding an unbiased jury.
Russell could face the death penalty if convicted.
