Chattooga County Sanitation Director Lamar Canada was let go by Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters Friday afternoon.

Commissioner Winters declined to comment on the firing of Canada saying simply, “no comment.”

Canada told The Summerville News, “on my paper it said – reduction in budget.”

Canada was brought in to run Chattooga County Public Works during the administration of Mike Dawson.

Winters continued to employ Canada as Public Works Director in his first administration.

Earlier this year Winters had divided duties between Joe Reed, who had been Public Works Director under Commissioner Jim Parker, and Canada.
