Charley “Val” Courtney, age 62 of Centre, passed away Friday, July 26th at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3rd at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 until 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be family members and close friends.
Survivors include his son, Caleb Tobias (Brooke) Courtney of Weaver; brother, William P. Courtney of Huntsville; sister, Patty Adams of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Sarah and Charley Courtney; nephews, Chris and Steve Seay, Joseph and Gary Courtney; great nephews, Josh and Nicholas Courtney.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy W. Courtney and sister, Cheryl Courtney.
Mr. Courtney was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Clarence Wilson and Virginia Sue Patty Courtney, was a retired Centre Police Chief, a member of the FOP, Ft. Payne Chapter and the PBA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Police Benevolent Association or the Fraternal Order of Police.
