A man already behind bars at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County, has confessed to killing an Elbert County coin collector – and as a result – was sentenced to life in prison last week in Elbert County Superior Court.
59 year old Dana Martin Grantham, confessed to a GBI Investigator at Hays Prison that he killed 69 year old Jimmy Webb; Grantham reportedly made the confession on June 7th as he was being interviewed in connection with the murder.
Authorities had originally stated that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to warrant a murder charge against Grantham however a new district attorney felt otherwise – and that led to the interview in which he confessed.
Grantham had already been serving a 20 year sentence at Hays for voluntary manslaughter.
